Are you ready?
Luke 18:22-23 ESV
When JESUS heard this, he said to him, "One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich.
What is it that you are allowing to come between you and JESUS? You know, that place that you have on reserve. That spot that you're afraid to let go of?
We often read this story and feel as though this young man was very foolish. He was standing with JESUS; having a face to face with HIM. He asked GOD what else can I do? What do I need to do in order to get what you have for me? Yet, he was not ready for what the LORD would ask of him.
My question to you is, are you ready? Really ready for what GOD has for you? Whatever you are holding on to, will you let it cause you to walk away from JESUS and the abundant life HE desires to give you?
I know when it's put that way it may seem so simple. Yet, you; the one holding on to that thing. You're finding it very hard to let go. For some it's because what you're being asked to let go of is the very thing you prayed for. So you stand in front of the Savior of the world afraid to give HIM back what HE gave you in the first place. Do you not know that if HE gave you something, that HE is more than capable of giving you something even greater?
Luke 18:29-30
And HE said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of GOD, who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life."
Do you believe?
