Just in the nick of time!
Genesis 22:9-12 ESV
When they came to the place of which GOD had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am." He said, "Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear GOD, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me."
I know it seems like you will never lay hold to the promise. Yet, I beseech you, Don't stop believing!! Abraham was given a promise from GOD in chapter fifteen of Genesis and he believed GOD.
However, there were many times during the years of waiting that it seemed as though the promise would not be fulfilled. Yet, as always the LORD kept HIS promise. Now in chapter 22 Abraham finds himself binding up and sacrificing the very promise GOD had given to him. Perhaps you are tempted in this moment to feel as though everything is slipping through your hands. As if perhaps the promise can never truly be held on to and enjoyed.
Someone today is feeling like GOD is not going to come through for you. Someone is feeling scared as you waited and waited for GOD to give you the thing you have believed HIM for and now it seems as though you must sacrifice the very promise from GOD.
Yet, what I want you to understand is that GOD keeps all of HIS promises. As HE told Abraham in chapter 15: "Fear not; I am your shield; your reward shall be great!"
Do not give up. Don't ever stop believing GOD for the promise HE has made to you. HE always arrives on time and keeps every last one of HIS promises!
(Read Genesis chapter 15-22.)
