The Unbalanced Scale
Numbers 23:19 ESV
GOD is not man, that HE should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has HE said, and will HE not do it? Or has HE spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
Yesterday as I sat in reflection. My soul began to declare, "LORD your word is all I have...." and before I could finish the sentence the LORD said to me, but how do you weigh my word?
My soul knows that GOD's word is all I need. It knows that HIS word and HIS promise is my hope. My soul knows that I believe HIS word to be unshakable, so I stand firm on it. Yet HE showed me that the issue is not that we are ignorant to HIS word. Nor is it that our hearts are totally full of unbelief. Our issue lies in our scale.
You see we give GOD's word the same weight as we give man's. Man is deceitful and even the best of men lie and make mistakes daily. We often endure heartbreak and pain in this life. So we allow the disappointments and let downs of this world change how we view GOD. For most this is by no means intentional, yet we base our view of GOD on how we view man (human beings).
You see someone reading this right now finds it hard to believe GOD loves you and desires to bless you. You struggle with believing that you are truly HIS child and that your Heavenly FATHER delights in giving you good gifts. You want to believe HE'll do it for you. Yet the only example of a father you've had is one who has abandoned you, broke your heart and has never been there for you.
The two are not equal. GOD is asking you to just dare to believe HIM. To believe HIM past your hurt and your doubt. To trust that HE will never leave nor forsake you. HE's asking you to walk by faith and not by sight.
Check your scale. Make sure you're weighing HIS word according to HIS deeds. I promise you that you'll find that GOD outweighs man every time!
