Your trials are just training!

James 1:2-3 ESV

Count it all joy my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.  And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.


I use to hear this scripture as a child, and think I want that.  To be able to count hard times as good times.  Yes, as a child, for I had already seen so much happen in my life at a very young age.  As an adult I use to hear this scripture read in a service and still thought one day I want to be there, but "feeling" as though this was not attainable.

Yet, today I count every trial that comes as joy.  It's a sign to me of two things.  The first is that I'm still on the right team, because the enemy would not fight me so hard if he was not so afraid of me.  The second is that the LORD is building up my muscles!!

I want to tell you today that your trials indeed are just your training.  Everyday, every minute and every second of our lives is war!  I'm not trying to scare you.  I just want you to be aware of what you are dealing with so that you can make an informed decision.  You will either decide this day to not be moved by your trials, or you will decide to let life toss you to and fro.

Yes, it's as easy as a decision.  Your decision may not change the trials that come, but it sure can change how you go through them!  So if you're not already suited up, put your war clothes on (the armor of GOD) and don't ever take them off.  Sharpen your sword (study the word).  Strengthen your arms so you can hold up your shield (exercise your faith for it is the shield for which you deflect the enemy's lies and schemes).  Then don't worry!  Yes, I said it!  Don't worry.  For this war has already been won by our Heavenly FATHER (and just in case you didn't know, We WIN!)
