What "they" say doesn't matter
Matthew 15:23-24 NKJV
But HE answered her not a word. And HIS disciples came and urged HIM, saying, "Send her away, for she cries out after us." But HE answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
This story in the bible continues to speak today. I was amazed as I was being enlightened by it over the weekend. You see in this scripture this woman comes to JESUS and HE appears to be ignoring her. So "they" (the disciples) say to JESUS, send her away, for she cries after us. Basically, have no dealings with her.
Here they are walking with GOD and wanting to keep him all to themselves. They were in a moment of loss and they did not even know it themselves. They said, she cries after "us". She was not crying after them. She was seeking JESUS.
I see "them" as the church sometimes, because we as people can get so comfortable in our own salvation and praising (or giving the appearance that we are praising) GOD that we forget about saving souls.
Oh, but the thing I love the most is how JESUS, nor this woman allowed anyone else's comments to keep her from getting blessed. You see, not until the disciples spoke against her, did the LORD turn to speak to her.
You see, JESUS is GOD. HE knows all. HE knew her faith, before HE spoke about her faith. So HE appeared to ignore her. Others around saw her as a nuisance or even crazy. And just when they thought that it was time to turn her away, our GOD began to speak to her. It appeared she would be the one that would end up embarrassed. For JESUS responded to her in ways that would appear to be demeaning. Yet, I believe that it was more to expose the faith of a woman who never walked with him and who according to law had no right to even seek HIM for healing for her daughter. Yet, she knew who HE was, she honored HIM and would not leave until HE blessed her. She was a visual to HIS disciples that walked with HIM everyday and often doubted; just how important having faith is.
Don't spend anymore time worrying about what others say about you. Work your faith. For your faith is what moves heaven, not words.
