Preparation

Matthew 10:16 ESV

Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

I remember reading or hearing this scripture read during a service and I always wondered as a child, why?  Why would you send us out into such a thing?  Wolves seek sheep to kill them, devour them and eat them alive.  I knew in my heart that GOD loved us, but why would HE send us out like this?  So, I pondered this for years asking what is the deeper meaning of this LORD?  Today, as a Woman of GOD, I find great joy in this scripture.

This war is real.  There is a spiritual battle between good and evil.  We cannot hide from it.  We cannot pretend it does not exist.  Yet, the LORD has prepared us.  HE has advised us to be wise as a serpent, yet innocent as a dove.  As I meditated on HIS word this morning, I received Keen Discernment.  The definition of keen is to be sharp or penetrating.  Discernment means to have the ability to judge well; perception in the absence of judgement with a view to obtaining spiritual direction.  (www.dictionary.com)  GOD wants us to know that HE has not sent us out into the world to be destroyed, but to help guide the other lost sheep back home.  HE prepared us, by fore warning us that there are wolves.  Yet, HE did not tell us to fear them, but yet HE instructed us on how to see them coming and operate in their midst.

You are HIS sheep, HE is your shepherd.  HE has sent you out to be HIS face in this earth.  To show others the way to HIM.  You'll face some opposition in life, but don't be dismayed.  The weapons HE has given to you will pierce the armor of the enemy and expose him for the wolf he is.  You will know how to move in every instance, so that you will not be snared.  You will see the enemy coming, you will handle the situation and walk through it with clean hands (innocence).  So don't give up.  Don't be dismayed by the wolves you see.  Just rest in the fact that your discernment is keen and you can see them.  Trust that your shepherd is with you, has prepared you and that HE will always keep you.  Follow HIS direction and live out your purpose in this earth without fear!  Do it with full confidence in HIM, not yourself.  HE has prepared you for this.  Stand up and operate in your gifts and calling.  Your lost sisters and brothers are waiting for you!
