If It Were That Easy

Joshua 1:9 ESV

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.  Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your GOD is with you wherever you go."

In this chapter GOD makes Joshua and the people of GOD great promises.  In the midst of doing so HE tells them three times "Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid."  If it were that easy to not be afraid would GOD have told them three times not to be?  The third time HE made it a commandment; a divine rule. 

GOD does so, not because HE is a mean taskmaster.  HE doesn't do so from a place of disappointment in the people.  HE did it to reassure them.  So that no matter what they saw on their journey they had a word from HIM to encourage them to keep going.  GOD knew there would be times on their journey that the promises HE made them would "appear" as though they were not going to come to pass.  GOD understands that they we will be tempted to question HIS promises.  

GOD understands that while we are making our way to the place of promise that we may not feel so strong; that we may not feel like going on.  Yet, HE is still saying today..."Be strong and courageous, do not be a afraid or dismayed, for the LORD your GOD is with you wherever you go."

Our FATHER is leading us.  HE has given us a vision and a road map to get to the place HE has prepared for us. Along the way we will see things.  Don't let them frighten you.  Allow them to serve their purpose and strengthen you; let them make strong your faith.  

My prayer for you today is that you will continue forward.  That you will believe the word that GOD has given to you and that you won't quit!  Everything (and I do mean everything) works together for your good.  So ask GOD, how can this thing (good, bad or ugly) work for me?  Ask also, how can I work for you (GOD) in this situation?  How can I be your face to this world today?

Be encouraged people of GOD.  I'm praying for you!
