So often we look for gifts and grand gestures to express our love. When in reality all we need to do is just that - express our love. At the end of a long day - your money, gifts, or grand gestures will mean nothing; especially if you're not there to listen or wrap your arms around those you love. Being physically present, yet not emotionally available, mutes the words "I Love You."
What are your love actions telling those around you? Are you just showing up or are you also making yourself available? Today, I challenge you to a 28-day love challenge. I challenge you to find ways to show those you love just how important they are to you. But don't you worry, it's not going to be simple. This challenge also includes complete strangers. (Don't worry, we won't ask you to do anything weird or illegal, LOL!)
The love of GOD has changed my life. No matter what you believe, love is a universal language that every being on this earth understands. The real challenge for so many today, is allowing love to shine through them. Will you give love 28 days?
I encourage you to keep a journal and to even share your experiences in the comment section of this blog. It is my prayer that you learn something about yourself and others. But above all, it is my prayer that you will learn something about love (GOD). For GOD is love, and love never fails.
Day 1 - Choose Joy
Nehemiah 8:10 ESV
Then he said to them, "Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our LORD. And do not be grieved for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
There's no better way to start this challenge than to choose to joy. I know many people cringe when they even hear the word love. They've been through heartbreak, loss and for some unexplainable pain. Yet, I encourage you to choose joy today. Not happiness. Happiness is based on happenings. Joy is born internally. When you choose joy it remains in spite of your surroundings. So, in spite of what you're feeling today, choose to bring joy with you wherever you go. Decide to be joyful all day long! This deed will bless you and everyone you come in contact with.
