GOD Lines
2 Peter 1:3 ESV
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the power of HIM who called us to HIS own glory and excellence.
Come to GOD empty so that you may be filled, has been a point that almost every sermon that I've listened to lately reminds us to do. The Pastors say...come empty and you'll see something you've never seen before in the scriptures. So that has been my prayer.
I've been excited, although I couldn't describe it, but I've felt this for some time now. Like GOD was speaking to me in a new way when I read HIS word. Well, HE did it again last night. As I sat in bible class listening to our teacher last night, he read this verse and he began to say the word GOD lines. Of course the auto spell and grammar check in my head said "Godly-ness." But the LORD reassured me, that it was indeed GOD lines. I knew in that moment I was not to save him from embarrassment by correcting his speech, but to ensure that I listened and got fed.
Godliness is just that GOD's lines. Living GODly is not about making sure our skirts are longer than someone else's or if our hair represents Christ. It's not about any of the things most people think of when they reference the word godliness. It is not even a word that is as restrictive and binding as many give the impression of. GOD's lines are about protection and provision.
The lesson last night was about how our temperament, as those who are in ministry should be. The teacher advised that without the Holy Ghost, we don't have the power to control our tempers and remain in the mind frame needed to be effective in ministry when challenged by those who can at times be difficult to handle or minister to. He gave great points on how we must allow GOD lines to guide us, to check us and to direct us. He went on to talk about the commanded blessing from GOD when we operate in unity and how it is our responsibility to allow these GOD lines to keep us so that offense is avoided and souls are won to CHRIST; leaving others encouraged to minister also.
Godliness, is simply GOD's lines to protect the integrity of HIS word. Not to prove who we are. Most people will read us far more than they will read the word. I pray everyday that this changes. Yet, it is the world we live in. So let's live in it within GOD's lines. Within HIS lines we have power, peace, joy, love, provision and everything needed to live the life GOD has called us to. In HIS lines, the fruit of the Spirit is manifested in our lives and blesses the lives of all we encounter for HIS glory.
