Begin Again

Philippians 3:13-14 ESV

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own.  But one thing i do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.  I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of GOD in CHRIST JESUS.

When my children were little I told them this: "You can start over at any time.  You don't have to wait until tomorrow to begin again.  It was important to me that they understood that they had the power to decide how their day ended.  Even if they woke up in a bad mood and spent half of their day upset; they knew that at any given time, they could reset their day and begin again.

This was not a tactic used by a single mother to get her children to behave.  As a matter of fact; it was me providing them with a spiritual tool that would last far past their grade school years.  Today, I give you this same tool.  

On Sunday, we were reminded of what our Lord and Savior did for us.  We were all inspired to begin again.  There's nothing like having the knowledge that your slate is clean to motivate you.  I also know, that many of you will not return again until Christmas.  Not because you enjoy being the "three times a year attendee", but because you walked away and immediately the enemy of your soul came with his lies.  Telling you that you'll fail again.  Perhaps he has told you that you aren't the type to keep a commitment.  He may have even reminded you of your past transgressions.  Well, I am here today to remind you, that you CAN begin again.  

JESUS' sacrifice on the cross was not for just one indiscretion; failure or shortcoming.  When JESUS went to the cross, HE paid for it all.  HIS blood cleanses; it continuously sets us free.  So today, make the decision that this year's reset will stick.  Decide today, this very minute, to press on pass your past.  Decide to start over each and every day.  Make the decision that today will be the best day of  your life and that you will be the best version of yourself.  

Lemons are bitter, as is some parts of our lives, but when they have been squeezed, and water and sugar are added , you can enjoy the best, most refreshing glass of lemonade.  The pressing you will have to do in this season, may feel like it is squeezing the life out of you; let it.  For what comes from you, added with the living water (JESUS) and mixed in with his abundant blessings, will bring a refreshing to your soul, leaving you with a sweet testimony that will give others the courage to press on also!
