Love is

I John 4:7-8 ESV

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from GOD, and whoever loves has been born of GOD and knows GOD.  Anyone who does not love does not know GOD, because GOD is Love.

I remember as a young girl growing up feeling stupid and even being called stupid for the way I loved.  No matter what, I loved.  I know longer regret being a lover.  I'm no fool, but I am a tool.  My heart is solely GOD's and I will allow HIM to use it however HE chooses.

You see, what I realize now, is that all the times I was in situations where others took advantage or when my heart was broken, yet still chose to love instead of being bitter, that I was not being foolish at all; I was in training.  Training for this season of my life when GOD can use my heart to show perfect strangers genuine love.  Which in turn allows them to see GOD, understand HIS love for them and give their lives to HIM.  That is our end goal anyway, right?....Souls saved.

I want to encourage you today, to be love to someone.  Not because they deserve it, but because you never will.  Not one of us will ever deserve what CHRIST did for us on the cross.  HE was made fun of and embarrassed as HE hung unclothed on a cross to pay for sins he did not commit.  Stop keeping score.  Stop being the judge and just love. 

Some of you will purchase your nice suits and hats and head to your once a year church visit. You'll look good on the outside, but that child that you mistreated is somewhere hurt, broken and trying to figure out who they are.  For, when you should have showed love, your tradition was more important.  Your image to your community was more important.  But it's love that would have made that child turn from the error of their ways.  Perhaps it's a spouse you'll speak harshly to on your way to services on Sunday.  Your harsh words will cut them to their soul. Won't you try loving their soul instead?  

Choose today to be love, show love and receive love.
