Wait on it!
Isaiah 40:31 ESV
But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
On yesterday I was listening to a sermon and the pastor said this.... how often do we ask GOD a question, but never wait for the answer? The discussion was centered around when the soldiers came to take JESUS, and how Peter asked "LORD should we smite them with the sword?" Yet, Peter did not wait for an answer. He cut the man's ear off. JESUS fixed the situation. Yet, Peter responded out of his emotions. Peter, no doubt, failed to think of the consequences that would have come upon him. He just reacted.
Don't think you'll cut someone's ear off? Well, let's consider this then. You're in a restaurant; you're hungry and everyone else around you is receiving their food, but you're not. You arrived ahead of many of them, yet your food has not been served and your waiter has not returned to your table. Do you get mad and make a scene? Or do you just wait on it?
Often we fail to realize that the waiter is actually covering his tables and those of another person who called off from work. We also fail to realize that it's not the waiters fault that everyone came into the restaurant at the same time. Beyond that, everyone else around you ordered the basic, simple, as-is items on the menu. You've ordered the best steak, well done with a special sauce to accompany it. Everyone else ordered basic mashed potatoes, you've ordered a potato casserole, which is made to order. Everything on your order is rare, so it takes a little more time for the head chef to prepare it. Yet when it arrives, the portions will be abundantly large; everything is perfect; just the way you ordered it. Will you miss the best meal ever because you became angry as you watched others receive their meal? Or will you sit still and wait on it?
Yes, I'm no longer talking about a meal. I'm talking about that promise GOD has made you. There are so many things GOD is doing that you cannot see. Why won't you wait for the one and only GOD to finish crafting your marriage, your business, your ministry; your life? Don't you know that GOD requiring your patience is not a punishment? My dear, our GOD is preparing you. Won't you wait for it?
