It Was Always the Word

Genesis 22:5 ESV
Then Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship and come again to you."

Have you ever thought to yourself..."I don't know if I could've done that"?  Yet, I believe that the story of Abraham is really no different than our story today.  I know, I know, I just felt your eyebrows raise up and question if I've had my vitamins this morning.... Is she serious?  Well, yes, I am.

I know that God has never asked any of us to kill our child; or has He?  Just think for a moment.  What was it that made Abraham even go on this journey?  Here he is, after the many years and all of his mistakes in the process.  Yet, time nor his inability to be perfect stopped God from fulfilling  His promise to give Abraham a son.

So, he gives Abraham a son and after all of  the time waiting and all of the trials, God is now asking him to kill the very thing He had given to him?  What made Abraham go without question?  What made him say with boldness "WE will be back!"?

I suggest to you it is the very same thing that made Peter get out of the boat when Jesus said come.  Or what made David go up to battle after God said "Go".  What made the sun appear in the sky?  I suggest to you that in every instance, it is the very same thing that has made you hold on for all these years.  Yes, indeed it was, is and forever will be; the word of God.

Don't go getting discouraged now.  God may be asking you to kill a thing in your life. Maybe it is a relationship or a business.. whatever it is that God is asking of you in this season, don't allow it to make you forget about the promise He made you in the previous season.  I know you feel stupid for still believing "it" could still happen. I know that you have days where you feel like it's better to cut your loses than to keep believing.  Well, let me suggest that if you're in a place of loss, that it is not the end for you.  Our God has promised us that all things will work together for our good.  That's a promise.  So I encourage you today, to hold on.  It's worth being a fool in the eyes of man; if it means you'll be counted faithful and righteous in the eyes of God.  The only thing you really have to decide, is whose word has the most weight in your life.  For me, I'm going with the word of God every time!
