Cover It Up
I Peter 4:8-9 ESV
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.
Usually when we hear about a "cover up" we immediately think about a scandal. You begin to wonder about what was hidden that is about to be revealed. Yet, I want to ask you today, who are you covering for?
I know that it may seem bad to cover something up, but what exactly do you think the blood of Jesus did for you? Now, I am not telling you to cover up a murder or the fact that someone is a danger to themselves or others. No, not all. I am asking that when you are made aware that someone has sinned that you will choose to cover them with your prayers and your love as opposed to talking about them with others.
Today, choose not to exploit a person's weaknesses or shortcomings. Let your love surround them like a blanket; securing them from the elements of life and the cruelness of this world. What glory does our Heavenly Father get when you needlessly expose someone else's faults? This does not mirror His image. For His love came down from heaven, robed itself in flesh and shed its blood to cover every single sin we'll ever commit. Choose today to be the face of God; choose today to cover in love.
