Know It

Psalm 139:14 ESV

I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are your works, and that my soul knows very well.

It was as if these words leaped off the page at me this morning. I've read it and heard it expounded upon a thousand times or more in my lifetime.  Yet, this morning, they were life to my spirit.  The writer is praising God for the way he is made.  I know that part is a given right???  Well, he goes on to say... God your works are marvelous and my soul knows this well.

David is saying, in essence, "You broke the mold when you made me; you made me marvelous, and I know it!"  Oh, don't go getting all churchy and start judging David.  David was simply declaring what is true.  He was created in a marvelous way and he was confident in that.  My prayer for you today, is that you too will be confident in the way in which God made you.  I pray that you'll look at those wrinkles, your nose, your eyes and your ears and see your true beauty. I pray that you'll also look within at your heart and see just how marvelous you are!

You see, it was this confidence that allowed David to slay Goliath and why he ultimately became King.  Think about it.  David was so young and small that Goliath was offended when David came out.  He called him a boy.  But David knew what Goliath did not.  David knew God and He knew that God had made him marvelously.  David knew that he was unique.  David knew that God was with him so he feared not the giant. 

Today, look at the giants you're facing, stare right down at them and declare.."You've already been defeated; I know it!"
