All I Can Do

James 5:16-18 MSG

Make this your common practice: confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed.  The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.  Elijah, for instance, human just like us, prayed hard that it wouldn't rain, and it didn't- not a drop for three and a half years.  Then he prayed that it would rain, and it did.  The showers came and everything started growing again.

Matthew 18:18-20 MSG

"Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is a yes in heaven; and a no on earth is no in heaven.  What you say to one another is eternal.  I mean this.  When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action.  And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I'll be there."

Recently I realized that I had become discouraged.  I can't tell you when it happened.  But I can tell you that when I heard myself speak the words out loud..."Lord, all I can do is pray!!"  The Holy Spirit checked me....."....All you can do is pray????  All you can do is pray?????? Then it hit me like a ton of bricks..... "All you need to do is pray!!!  Have you forgotten that this is your weapon???? Have you forgotten the mountains that have moved because you've prayed?  Don't lose heart now!!

So today I am here to tell you....All that you need to do is pray; pray believing you have already received.  I know that sometimes life seems to be overwhelming or you may get tired of fighting and waiting.  But what I've found in those moments is that I've allowed the lies of the enemy to slip in and cause me to take my focus off of God.  I know you may be thinking how can that be?...  I'm still studying the word, etc. Yet, I can only tell you what I know.  It never fails that every time I am tempted to feel defeated or to give up; it's because I've forgotten and lost focus.  So let's just have a truth moment.  It can happen to us all. But we have the power of choice and I have chosen that the land of discouragement is not a place I'll ever stay.  I won't even visit it long.  Just because you may feel a thing doesn't make it real.  I may feel weary, but I don't have to be weary.  I can count on God's strength in those weak moments.  Our God never fails.  He delights in showing himself strong on our behalf.  Let Him show out on your behalf today. Light up the darkness with your prayers!!

Mark 11:22-25 MSG
Jesus was matter-of-fact: "Embrace this God-life.  Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for you.  This mountain, for instance: Just say, 'Go jump in the lake' - no shuffling or shilly-shallying-and it's as good as done.  That's why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large.  Include everything as you embrace this God-life, and you'll get God's everything.  And when you assume the posture of prayer, remember that it's not all asking.  If you have anything against someone, forgive - only then will your heavenly Father be inclined to also wipe your slate clean of sins."
