In the Meantime

Philippians 1:6 NIV
Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Often in the midst of change; in the midst of process we began to look around and consider what is logical or what some may call "reality".  Reality may be that your father, his father and his father before him were all addicts of some kind. Perhaps they were abusers or adulterers.  Perhaps this has been all you've ever witnessed. Yet, you have asked God to deliver you from this.  Perhaps you are at a place you've never been before.  Perhaps you're one day past the time you were the last time you quit smoking, cheating, drinking, overeating, being mean to somone [you can plug anything in here, because God can and will deliver you from anything].  Do not reconsider your decision for change in the middle of your process.  I know it can be scary waiting on God to complete His work in you.  Especially when you start to think about your human frailties.  I would like to challenge you today to not consider yourself; nor your abilities.  For this thing won't be done in your might but by the spirit of our Almighty God (Zechariah 4:6).

Don't you dare give up now.  God is faithful to complete His work in you. Stay on the Potter's wheel.  Do not abandon the process.  You're closer to completion than what you think.  So shift your thinking to align with God's.  Our Heavenly Father thinks enough of you that He called you and started the work.  Let Him finish it.  He will get Glory from your life.
