All for Nothing

Recently I was speaking to an older sister at church and we were just expressing our love to each other. She said to me with her soft loving hand on mine, "I just love you. I truly and sincerely just love you." I smiled and began to express to her just how much I loved her back. I told her how knowing she loves me is such a blessing to my life.

She went on to say "....and you know it's not because of anything." She said, "it's for nothing. Like you literally have done nothing to make me want to love you. It is not because you gave me some gift or you did something special for me but it's just a love that God gave us, and that makes it all the more sweeter."

As I pondered over the reality of her words. I was led to this scripture.

John 3:16 NIV

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only

Son, that whoever believes in him shall not

perish but have eternal life.

God gave us the greatest gift of love through Jesus' blood. It wasn't because we did anything. Truth is, humanities actions separated us from God. He didn't owe it to us, He wasn't required to do it. Yet, His love compelled Him to shed His blood for the remission of our sins. He loved us so much that He gave us everything. He had no guarantee that we'd love Him back. And truth be told, there are many who do not. Yet, His love hasn't changed. He loves us. Today, I pray you'll accept that love and the salvation it brings.
