A Different Way

 

Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV

"For my thoughs are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord.  "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higer than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

I want to invite you to read the scripture above one more time. But this time I want you to read it as though a loving Father is speaking it to you.  Not as a condemner or a judge, but as a Father who desires a relationship with you and who wants to bless you.

One of the greatest things that has ever happened to me in my life was to discover God.  I know it sounds weird right? How can you discover a God that always existed?  Yet, my discovery of God was not of His existence, but of His true heart towards me; towards you.

When I read this scripture now, I see it as invitation to a life that God has for me that is so grand that I cannot even begin to imagine all the ways God desires to bless me.  I knew that God delights in blessing His children.  I just never realized that I was boxing Him in with my limited mindset on "how" He could bless me.  I would run out of ways in my mind to believe that God could do "it" (whatever my it was at the time).  God would always send me back to this scripture, but it still never settled in.... "Vivian, stop trying to figure it out.  It is not your job to figure it out; only to believe."  I thought I was believing (and I was), but now I am dreaming with God and believing.  

"Lord blow my mind with your blessings!" This is now my new prayer.  I want what is in the mind of God for me.  What about you?  Will you believe God today for what you can barely fathom in your mind?  He has said that He is able to exceed what we can ask, "think" or imagine.  Let us invite God in to do just that; to do it a different way.
