On Empty
Being on
empty is usually not a goal we have. Be
it in reference to our cars or ourselves.
When we begin to feel depleted, most will schedule a day off from work,
make an appointment at the spa or do something to replenish our strength and
renew our minds. When it comes to our
vehicles, we pull into the gas station for a fill up.
Yet, most
recently I have found empty to be a great place. As I have shared throughout the last year or
so; God has been speaking to me about His grace. Knowing that God’s grace exists and that it
is for me is one thing. But to live, fully in that grace is another. However, it is so very important that we
learn to do so. The knowledge,
understanding and ability to live in God’s grace brings victory in areas of our
lives that we may not experience it otherwise.
So, how do we accomplish this life of grace? You guessed it, by being on empty.
Grace
steps in when we are tapped out. It steps
into those places that we would prefer to hide from others, ourselves and if it
were possible, we would hide those places from God. Yet, God wants us to know that He is not
afraid of those places. His grace is
sufficient for every part of our lives.
I know that
being on empty is scary. I know that
being on empty can cause your juggling act to fall to the ground. But so, what… let it fall. The place you are trying to keep God out of,
is the very place that He will use for His glory and honor. Take your empty places to God and let Him fill
them with His love, His spirt and His grace!
2
Corinthians 12:9 – NIV
But
he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in
weakness.” Therefore I will boast all
the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
