1st Things First

Matthew 6:33 KJV

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

This scripture has come alive to me in a new way.  I have heard it for years.  I have both read and quoted it.  Yet, as I have meditated on it for the last several months, I have come to see it differently. 

Often the word of God is read as being a rule book.  I have chosen lately to see it as a guidebook, inspired by a loving God.  I am not saying that we should not follow the rules in the bible.  What I am saying is that everything that we need in this life can be found in these pages of inspiration.  God has literally given us step by step strategies to live the abundant life that Christ came to give to us. 

If I had to summarize this scripture, my summation would read as follows:

When you ask God for one thing, and He speaks to you instead about another.  Do whatever He is telling you to do in that moment.  Don’t focus on what “appears” to be your need.  Because God has already taken care of every need. So, stay focused on the kingdom and you will know no lack.

I want to encourage you today to be obedient to God.  God is all knowing, you can trust Him because He is always right.  Everything about God is perfect.  Trust His heart.  God will indeed work all things out for your good.  So, stay focused and put 1^st things first!
